Chef Izumi's Udon - special edition

10/16/05 Lunch - Chef Izumi decided to cook Chicken Udon for lunch at yydream cafe. Sounds good ^_^ and Naoju prepared Kung Pao Chicken Friend Rice (yeah....left over from Cheng Du). Udon came out so good and so does Fried rice! ひよこ (Hiyoko-Japanese sweets) was for desert. I was stuffed again :)

Cheng Du

10/15/05 Dinner
It's great! When my client comes in town, we almost eat out! \(^o^)/ On the other hand, I was too busy to update my BLOG.
Ok, we were trying to go to MIZU (Shabu Shabu) restaurant for dinner but it was 15~20 minutes wait :(
We were too hungry to wait so Naoju (my client / friend) suggested the Chinese restaurant where he used to go for lunch.

This restaurant was called "Chang King" before. Naoju ordered spring rolls, chinese chicken salad, soup, shrimp chow men, kung pao chicken, friend rice and vegetable dish...ah...we are only 3 people...who is going to eat all that....
This restaurant was nothing special...I like Japanese food much better than Chinese. Chinese food is too oily and greasy. I gained 3 pounds easily eating Chinese food.... >_<

THE SHACK

10/15/05 Lunch Time!! My client (Naoju) came from Japan. 99% of the time, we go THE SHACK when Naoju comes in town. It's a very popular burger restaurant in Playa Del Rey.

This is the most popular "The Shack Burger". Ground Chuck topped with grilled Louisiana Hot Link or Portuguese sausage with choice of American, Swiss, Cheddar, Pepper Jack or Bleu Cheese Crumbles. ($6.00)

I ususally have a "Tuna Melt Sandwich, but today I got a "Turkey Melt Sandwich" instead. With Sauteed mushrooms Melted Swiss cheese on Sourdough Bread with Iceberg Lettuce, Sliced Tomato and Mayo.

We had another company from Japan today, Hirotaka (Pianist). His choice was "North Shore Chicken. Grilled Chicken breast topped with Sauteed Mushrooms and Melted Cheddar Cheese.

I don't remember what Naoju ordered... it didn't look any special burgar or sandwich, so I didn't take any pic of his food, but we also ordered one basket of Onion Rings on the side :)

Overall, It's ok. I guess it's a casual neighbor hangout.

S M Pier Seafood

My friend came from Japan! It's been about 2 years to see each other.
We went to Santa Monica Pier to find 'Crabs'.
Here we are! Very interesting naming Seafood place.....mmm....We found 'Crab meal'.
My friend told me that Korean owns this restaurant. The cashier spoke a bit of Japanese :)

We had one Dungess Crab each. When it comes to think of crab....I've never had a whole crab before. This huge crab was good! It was really messy when we were eating. I was so busy digging meat from shell...

When we are almost finish eating, something happened outside!!!! Gang (?) escaped from Police! Police tried to stop a car but the car stopped once and hit the police's little truck (how do you call this thing again?) and a taxi, and the car ran away!!! My friend saw the whole thing but I was still busy digging meat....and messy hands... that's why I couldn't go outside and take some photos of the accident. Police couldn't catch the car at the time.
Santa Monica, Santa Monica.... always something happening!

Sushi Roku

Last night (10-13-05), my friend and I went to Sushi Roku in Santa Monica.
I've been to Sushi Roku on 3rd before and I didn't like it because it was too crowded and noisy.
The service wasn't good either.

It was my first time to go to Sushi Roku in Santa Monica.
atmosphere was nice, romantic...however I was a little disappointed at the presentation of... Caterpillar Roll.
This is one of my favorite sushi rolls! Why people call 'Caterpillar Roll'? Of course it looks like Caterpillar! Right? (hope it doesn't taste like Caterpillar.... -_-; ) It was good though :)

Souplantation

This is one of my favorite restaurants! Soup & Salad Buffet! I like this place because you just pick whatever you want and it's healthy. You can also get pasta, muffins, pizza, frozen yogurt and more! (Too much!)

So here is my 'pick' for today. Yeah, I have 2 places full with salad & pasta :) The other tray is my friends. We had frozen yogurt after the meal. I forgot to take a pic of my frozen yogurt. (I was busy eating...)

Kaiten-Sushi DAICHAN

I should have taken some photos of the place... but my friend Jeff took some pics of us at the place. (Thanks, Jeff!)
This revolving sushi & fine Japanese dining DAICHAN just opened a couple of months ago.
It's clean and wide inside. It's casual. Food (sushi) keeps coming by in front of you so you never get hungry.
Prices are very reasonable but you might not get the BEST sushi...
I wanted to see my friend Megumi there at that night but she was off :(
I'll see her next time I visit there!
I definitely go back there!
